yeah, they did a lot of things in college they werent supposed to ...like increase tuition every year (after multiple promises that they would never ---)..they changed the graduation perimeters and we had a choice to use the one that was in place when we started or change over (I choose to change since I wanted to graduate at some point in time)....the old ones were very hard on some majors --as an art major I was required to take human anatomy and physiology --which were both pre med WEED OUT classes--(the only time I knew of professors giving tests that you could score in the negatives....if you 'guessed' wrong they took points AWAY from your grade!)...so the art majors who were taking them werent prepared for the high level of ....er, stuff , that the teacher did to get kids to QUIT being pre med majors! (and it was ONLY a 100 level class!!!!)....I was quite happy with the horrible grade I got as it meant it didnt have to repeat the class (but smashed my gpa to bits).

yeah having a few computers makes things a bit more interesting....they like the cool temps of the winter, and the really hate summer.

Sometimes surviving is all you can ask for in some college classes. I know that feel. Glad my college didn't do anything like that. Also glad that my dad worked there so I got tuition remission, aka went tuition free. Boo yah.

I like the cool temps of winter and I'm not a computer.

must be nice to get a free ride...not all of us can be so lucky.

I agree--winter is better (my heating bill is less than my cooling!!)

Ya I definitely consider myself fortunate. It was not something I went around bragging about. Normally if people were complaining about the price I just would nod my head and tell them that I felt bad for them, but I wouldn't rub it in there face.

Ya my bill is the same way. Less in the winter than in the summer. Of course I'm home less in the winter lol

I am here just as much in all seasons ....its that unemployeeded aspect of my life (hubby still going strong with his 2 jobs, heck he has TOOO much work!).

I couldnt complain much either, when my dad died he left enough for both my sister and me to get thru college (even our expensive colleges)...and for my mom to live comfortably for the rest of her life as well.

nice cooler weather for a few days....and even some rain in the forecasts!

I'll be out a lot more starting next Thursday. Tis the life of a teacher. Out for 2.5-3 months, in for 9. Go team.

We actually got a good 8+ hours of rain today. Much needed. More could come tomorrow, lets hope it happens!

The world will be a safer place for those not behind those closer doors. lol For those behind them, it could be very scary.

rofl!!!
sorry pwnd, you picked that career!
I did my stint teaching and learned that I shouldnt be teaching anyone's kids (including my own)....even though everyone I speak to about it says I am a wonderful teacher! (I have NO patience for kids, even though I understand their psychology, doesnt make me want to be around them any more).....and some of us are extremely happy that others ARE teaching the kiddies......thanks pwnd!!!

You hand a kid a scapel, it is a bit scary no matter what. lol But really the kids don't scare me at all, I seem to get a long with most of them and it all works out. I know how to be friendly but not be their friend. So it all works out. Looking forward to this year. I have more classes to teach since I don't have a study hall but on the plus side, the amount of students in each class is less. I think 18 or 19 is my max number of students. Much better than the 24 I had last year!

24 rug rats all in one place at one time...THAT is pretty dang scary!....though you are teaching older kids, so they are a bit easier to ....handle ....

Oh I got along with the kids just fine (we seem to like a lot of the same things---)...just not a fan of them. (I really dont want to share my toys!)

so tired....and I got 5 hours of sleep (more than I ususally do)...I am going to blame it on the high mold spore count.

Ya, I feel bad for my mom. Sounds like she is going to have about 24 kindergarteners this year... That is not my idea of fun at all.

I enjoy spending time with my students. During school hours. Definitely not outside of school. I'll say hi and be friendly but don't expect me to go out of my way to say hello to you.

Ya I'd be in those hills long before that lol Just couldn't do it!

I guess they got some rain here. Not really sure since I was out of town. Where I was at we got some rain Sunday and a lot on Monday. Think we got some Thursday. Friday and Saturday were nice and clear which was good since those were wedding days. Oh boy weddings... Had 2 to attend. Plus a birthday party for my fiancees grandpa and an anniversary party for some of her relatives. Busy busy weekend...

School starts up soon.

yeah seen some rain for the past few....and yeah talked to my sister in florida--very happy school is happening again (REAL soon).

geez, pwnd..thats a LOT of partyin'!

been doing some cleaning here, as well as being laid up with a sore back (just cant do as much as I used to )....and the condo asssssses are paying some company to come and clean out all of our dryer vents (dont think ours have EVER been done --not that I can get to the one on the roof to clean it--as we are not allowed on the roof)....should be fun to see how much we have to move out of the utility room so they can do this feat.

Ya, partying... Sure... Way to much for my liking. One wedding would have been too much, but two on top of other things? Blargh... Also had engagement pictures taken Saturday morning before one of the weddings and then on Friday morning, the day of the other wedding, the fiancee and I drove 2 hours up to Wisconsin to pick up some mosquito traps from my uncle. Busy freaking weekend is an understatement!

I haven't done much cleaning here, but then again I have been out of town. Taking my lizard back to school tomorrow (thank goodness!) so that is less electricity that I have to use when I'm gone. Also excited to get back to running. I didn't run Friday morning because of driving up to Wisconsin. I ran Monday morning for 2.5 miles on a treadmill (boring). Didn't run today because I drove back and had to run errands before I ever even got back to my place. But I'm back now. Thank goodness. And I survived lol

do some running for me...need to lose about 40lbs...though I would probably need to run closer to 300 miles a day for it to do anything for me (and cant really run that many, now can we?)...so on second thought....just make my metablolism faster so I can actually use what I eat instead of storing it all like a hibernating bear (its summer gosh darn it, no need to store!!)

on my 2nd attempt to get that phone call (called another company and they gave me the number of yet another---whom all seem to be on vacation! must be nice)....so will try again tomorrow to see if anyone actually answers phones or if viocemail is all there is.

I've lost about 27 pounds this summer. So you don't need to run 300 miles per day. Just get out and walk as much as you can. Walking is great exercise as well. I run in the morning and walk a few hours later. Just find what works for you and stick with it. Remember, weight loss is a marathon, not a sprint. It is gonna take some time.

I think everyone is cashing in their vacation time so they can get it in right before all the kids go back to school.

its a marathon all up hill on mt everest for me (my metabolism is almost nil)...losing weight IS a war by itself, exercise doesnt seem to help much (actually GAIN weight just doing aerobic exercise!!!), remember I am an OLD woman--my body doesnt work the way a nice recent male college grads would (actually never did either---)...we could do the same amount of exercise and you would lose I would gain (significantly even )

when we went back to japan a few years ago (me, hubby and a few male friends)...we did TONS of walking, we all ate the same things ...they all lost weight--I GAINED 10lbs!

oy

the most weight I have lost in the last 20+ years was in grad school--working 2 jobs and taking classes....some days I would just forget (not have time) to eat, and I would be getting ready for bed and wonder what I had forgotten to do when a loud grumble would happen! I would then say 'I will eat tomorrow'. I guess I finally hit my genetic wall (dad double his weight in his 40's too...and he was a stick when they got married)...now I just try to find a way to NOT gain weight in the first place.

Sadly that is what happens with age... Metabolism slows down, harder to exercise, just not ideal for weight loss. And regardless of what people say, weight is more than likely a genetic trait. Seems like those with larger parents are usually larger themselves. As they say, if you want to see what your significant other will look like down the road, look at their parent who is of the same gender.
